Guess everyone has a story to tell, about how they got started
with their Pets and we aren't
any different. Our journey started with a Pocket Parrot. Lon was gone to a
business meeting and I
decided, now was the time for that bird I had been thinking about.
No other birds in my life until one day I happened to be in a pet store and
this baby Timneh Grey peaked over the edge trying to get a fix on me. I had no
idea what was about to happen... that Timneh changed our lives! If any of you
have ever been lucky enough, for a parrot to pick you out of a group of people,
well there are no words to explain the moment other than its like you've been
together all of your life and that it was just meant to be. You know the rest of
the story, one bird lead to another bird, then another and so on and so on.
Lon and I have
had parrots as pets for about 20 years and breeding and raising them for 15
years. Each and every new baby is still, just as important today as it was 15 years ago.
When we started our adventure, it was with one thought as our as our bench mark.
"If we could not raise sweet
and loving baby Parrots for people, that made us cry when they go to their new
home, then we didn't want to do it anymore." If we get to where it
doesn't cause me to miss a few hours of sleep each night when one of our babies
leaves, then we've lost some of the punch that we started out with and that
can't happen as far as we are concerned.
Each baby
comes into our home as a baby and associates with our own pets, caged next to them and treated
no differently. We encourage people to visit their babies as often as possible
until weaned and ready to go home. We enjoy the company and it is so much better for both baby and new
caregivers, to have as much time as possible. We are always available and express to every person that takes one of
our babies home, that if we don't have the answer to a question, we know enough
people that we can surely get an answer. You won't be left alone!
At the present
time Lon and I are owned by six pets, Keone a Hyacinth Macaw, Sydney the
Moluccan Cockatoo also known as our Sales Manager, he thinks he is the only
reason people come around, is to see him. Lokie our Triton Cockatoo, Miss Ellie, a
Rose Breasted (Galah) Cockatoo, Barney our African Grey and Gidget my little
Black headed Caique. No promises that six is the final number! That is not a big
number, until you add 25 baby Macaws, Cockatoos, African Greys, Eclectus and
a brooder full of Caiques!! Well, you see the pictures..
It is
difficult to write about yourself, but we think the name we chose, Parrot
Passion, stands for how we feel, about what we do. The web pages are intended to
be fun and at the same time give you some insight into how we care for our
Parrots. To have a place that you and your family can go to and see new
babies
